The story of Re-Work is a story of community
So… we both quit our jobs.
That’s where this whole beautiful adventure began to unfold. We were successful yes, but also tired, stressed, and overworked. But we knew, could feel, (and wanted desperately to be true) that there had to be a better way. That the constant grind and push that we had been taught since childhood was what we had to do to “get ahead”, was not the only way.
So we agonized and we struggled until finally we made a choice. We chose to step off the path of productivity, to challenge the constant exhaustion and pushing that our culture says is normal, and find another way. We rested, which made room for play, and through both we discovered new levels of creativity and possibilities for how to live and work. We learned A LOT along the way, not all of it easy and we want to share it with you to ease the path a little.

why
Re-Work?
If the past few years have taught us ANYTHING (and they have taught us almost too much), it’s that there’s more to life. More than work, more than hustle and more than the hours between 9-5. And a few of us have begun to push back against our culture of “hard work” and productivity as what determines our worth. We are finding new ways to define success and what a good life looks like. That is what Re-Work is all about. Doing that work together. In community.
Cool, cool, cool, BUT I need to work to make money and live
We know. Us too. Finding the balance between rest and aligned work is hard. But it is possible. We have explored what that path looks like and want to share what we’ve learned. We are explorers, not experts which is why we want you to join us on this journey so we can share and learn from each other.
We don’t want you to quit your job if that’s not what you’re seeking. Instead, this is your chance to rethink your relationship to work and ideas of productivity and develop a more aligned path forward as a creative professional.
Our values
These are the things that guide us as we build this community and work with you to help shape the future of work. If you catch us slipping, hold us to them.
Community
Gathering. Coming together to support our individual and collective growth and wellbeing. While contributing to and helping shape a better world. To have positive social impact by being accessible, sustainable, and by giving back.
Experimentation
The art of trying, curiosity, and exploration. Staying open to what’s possible and what doesn’t yet exist.
Storytelling
Stories connect us in community, inspire, help us understand each other and, are a powerful teaching tool.
Generosity
We believe in abundance. And kindness. And sharing those things and the knowledge we have gathered with as many people as possible.
We are building Re-Work within an anti-oppressive model. What that means is we prioritize people over profit and try to employ anti-oppressive processes. We focus on community and contributing to the collective and set goals that move beyond the idea of simple profit. We prioritize being of service which includes helping people grow sustainably, especially traditionally marginalized people. That means we want to work with you and if cost is a barrier, we’d love to talk to you about other ways to help you. Just reach out.
Rest, Play, & Creativity
Together. These are the foundation of Re-Work and what makes us who we are. We heal and grow through them.
